Pitkanen

With the LA Kings looking to continue their rebuild and the uncertainty of the older players lasting with the Kings throughout the season, GM Fekete has moved one of his 30+ year olds in Joni Pitkanen. The 31 yr old defensemen has been dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for 21 year old defensemen Nikita Nesterov and 27 year old RW Devin Setoguchi who will be looking to find his game again in Calgary after signing a 1 yr, 750k contract to try and rejuvenate his career.

"First off, I want to thank Joni for all his accomplishments over the years and wish him the best of luck in Columbus. Nikita Nesterov will be joining the Manchester Monarchs and will get to play on the 3rd pair most likely. As for Setoguchi, I will likely have him playing on the 2nd or 3rd line and see how things progress from there. Hopefully he can make the most of his opportunities and can be a part of this team's rebuild going forward. As for replacing Pitkanen, it won't be easy as he brings some strong attributes to our club but as I have stated before, I am looking to my youth and will be continuing to rebuild for at least the next couple seasons. With that said, Pitkanen will be missed but I am looking forward to seeing what Morgan Reilly can do with the big boys so he will be called up and will get to play a top 4 role and see some PP time. I think very highly of him and think he'll be a positive addition not only just for this season but as a core member of this Kings franchise for years to come."
