Sabres send Ryan Ellis to the Avalanche

The Sabres had been shopping for a 2nd line centerman for a while now.

Earlier today, the Sabres send Ryan Ellis and a first rounder to the Avalanche for Jeff Carter.

''Jeff is exactly the type of player we were looking for'' said GM Blanchard.  ''A centerman with good offensive skills who also brings leadership and experience.''

If Carter can make it to the game on time, coach Therrien confirmed that he will play on the 2nd line with Steen and Brown.  Michael Stone will take Ellis spot on defense.
