Zetterberg stays in Detroit!

The Detroit Red Wings are pleased to announce to their fans this evening that Henrik Zetterberg just signed a four year contract extension with the team.

Front loaded contract ($20.455 million)

 

Zetterberg, who will turn 34yo this year, wished to end his career with the Wings.  "We just secured for several years to come a great and devoted veteran who likes playing for this town.  He's one of our best scorers and lead all the forwards in the +/- column, we couldn't see our future without him".

On the other hand, Pavel Datsyuk rejected a 3 year contract offer of a value of $16 million.  "Negotiations are still in progress, we will meet again this week end and hope to reach an agreement with Pavel and his agent.
