Canucks Report Card

After starting the season 5-1-0 the Canucks have been struggling big time as of late and their record is 7-8-2. They sit 5th in the NorthWest Division with 16 points. The Canucks are lucky their in a weak division and 6 of the teams are closely bunched within 1 or 2 points amongst each other. San Jose is the only team that is out of 1st with 6 points. The Canucks problem so far this season isn't scoring goals they've seen the red light come on 51 times, but the problem is goals against with 58 goals. Bryzgalov and Reimer are having a tough time being consistent. We cant put all the blame on the goalies because a lot of the Canucks problems are on special teams and they are struggling on PP and PK. They cant seem to get a rythm going and continue to find ways to lose games. The Power Play has to get better and the goalies and have to be their best penalty killer. As of right now Vancouver is not a cup contender and are playing with no passion.

Below we have graded the Canucks Players so far this season

Colin Wilson ... B+ ............ Colin has been pretty solid and consistent with 18 points, but needs to score on PP

Saku Koivu ...... B ............... This old vetran still has some gas left in the tank 17 points in 17 games

John Oduya ...... B ............. Canucks Best Dman... others need to wake up

David Jones ..... B- ........... 3rd line is solid

Kevin Klein ....... B- ............. can be more agressive, but solid

Michael Ryder .... C+ .......... Ryder needs to shoot more... not getting enough shots.

Cory Conacher .... C+ ...... Conacher is contributing on the 3rd line

Olli Jokinen ..... C+ ..... Joki Doki is exceeding expectations for playing 3rd line minutes

Eric Brewer ..... C+ .... inconsistent ...

Brian Lashoff ..... C ...... needs to play more minutes

Tomas Fleischmann .... C- .... major dissapointment... plays lots of minutes and not many points to show for it

Alex Tanguay .... C- ...... He has been average this year.

Kevin Bieksa ...... C- ..... takes too many penalties. Canucks need him on the ice

James Reimer ..... C- .... needs to get more starts

Tomas Tatar ...... C- ....... not very impressive

Iyla Bryzgalov ..... D ...... Not very good, very inconsistent.... time to start Reimer

Mark Streit ..... D ......  He has been one of the worst players on the ice this year.

Wojtek Wolski .... D ...... Just a waste... He should be benched.

Patrick Elias ..... D .... Elias is a minus 9 and his crap contract is a tough sell to trade.

Jim Obrien ....... D ...... Terrible 4th line Center
