Ready for Wild Season?

2013-09-12

The Minnesota Wild have had a Some-what Busy Offseaon (Compaired to "Other GM's")and look set to take to the ice. With the Pre-Season just around the corner GM Mckenzie is Confident His team can go further into the playoffs this year.

"We Feel Confident enough that our product can go further this year in the playoffs, of course our goal is Lord Stanley" GM Mckenzie Stated.

Here are the moves they made:

In: Jesse Winchester, David Broll, Scott Valentine and Wacey Hamilton

Out: Year 4 - StL - Round 3, Year 4 - MIN - Round 4, Year 4 - MIN - Round 5

alot of people wondered why GM Mckenzie made this move, He stated "We didnt really see anyone in the draft we liked in those rounds, we are not taking away from those players that were drafted but nothing to our fit, so we made a deal with Gm Leblanc and our main target in that trade was Defencemen Scott Valentine"

still a questionable deal, we will find out if it truley pays off for him.

In: Teemu Selanne

Out: Year 3 - BUF - Round 4

GM Mckenzie felt like he needed a strong vetern scoring winger so he made a deal with GM Rockett and gave up a 4th round for him

In: Year 3 - WIN - Round 3

Out: Sergei Kostitsyn

With Sergei and GM Mckenzie being far apart on negotiations for a renewal, Kosty bolted to the KHL, so GM MCkenzie traded him and his rights to Dallas in exchange for a 3rd rounder, not a bad trade, not the best but not the worst.

In: Martin Havlat

Out: Year 3 - WIN - Round 3, Year 3 - ANA - Round 3

GM Mckenzie Felt he was a bit weak on the LW position so went out and Aquired Havlat, A proven scorer, with 2 3rd rounds, the WIN 3rd rounder he aquired via trade for kosty and the ANA 3rd round pick aquired at an earlier date. alot og gm's around the league were sceptical and laughed at GM Mckenzie for giving up 2 3rd rounds for him He Stated "Some Say we overpayed and maybe we have, but most the people saying that didnt even make playoffs so maybe they need to "overpay" a bit to get somewhere"

In: Cory Emmerton, Mason Raymond and Year 4 - CAL - Round 3

Out: Year 3 - BUF - Round 2, Year 3 - MIN - Round 4, Year 3 - BUF - Round 4 and Year 3 - MIN - Round 3

With feeling not needing to draft to much this year GM Mckenzie went out and traded his late round picks for Emmerton, a young Centermen who could possibly be the future of this team, Raymond, who is a verten LW and GM Mckenzie needing some depth on the LW, and a 2014 3rd round pick.

In: Prospect: Stanislav Galiev

Out: Jesse Joensuu

With already enough Physical forwards on his ahl roster GM Mckenzie traded Joensuu to the blue jackets for prospect Galiev, this was a minor trade but shockenly joensuu had quite a bit of interest.

In: Daniel Maggio and Phil DeSimone

Out: Teemu Selanne and Year 3 - NJD - Round 3

With aquiring Havlat and Mason, GM Mckenzie needed to shed some cap, so he traded Selanne away for 2 young potential NHL'ers, he had to give a 3rd round pick away as he made the mistake of showing depreation, but you live and you learn, but if u look at the big picture, having much needed depth or 1 scoring Winger, who at the time wasnt sure if he was going to play another season or not, so either way, u win some, you lose some or u break even.

with the pre-season not to far ahead and the trade activity quiet, most teams seem settled heading into the seaon, but things change and i guess we will see what the next few weeks brings to us.
