Who Says You Can't Go Home???

2013-07-08

GM Arcesi of the Boston Bruins finally found his 1st line LW that he was looking for early in this off-season.  Arcesi has rounded out his top two forward lines with the re-addition of star LW Zach Parise.  Arcesi and GM LeBlanc of the Avalanche pulled off one of the off-season's biggest blockbusters yet this year in a 2 player and picks swap.  The deals sees the Bruins re-acquire LW Zach Parise in exchange for RW Jeff Carter, a 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick and 5th round pick.  Carter was slated to be on the 3rd line this season and Arcesi really liked having him on the team, but felt that Carter was too good and too expensive to be placed on a 3rd line.  The Bruins tried to resign Jeff Carter to a long-term deal, but based on the asking price of Carter, and based on the depth of the Bruins, they couldn't come to a mutual agreement and Arcesi traded Carter to a team that needed a RW/C more than the Bruins did and were able to pick up the LW they desparately wanted.

After making the trade, the Bruins didn't waste any time in locking up Parise.  This time, the bruins offered Parise a 4 year deal which is front loaded, with a no trade clause and $2.8 million dollar signing bonus which will see Mr. Parise rake in a little over $28 million in the 4 years, plus the signing bonus.  Both parties were contacted after the announcement and had this to offer.  GM Arcesi stated that he was ecstatic that they were able to re-acquire Parise and to be able to settle on a long-term deal and that he offered Parise an NTC because he didn't want him to think that he would be traded again and that this time, he was a Bruin for a long time and won't be used to add depth to the lineup.  Parise said that he was glad to come back to Boston and that his travels around the league to Vancouver and Colorado were great, but there is no better feeling that being a Bruin and playing on a line with Jonathan Toews and Claude Giroux and that he is looking forward to stepping back on the ice at TD Northbank Garden.

The Bruins have rounded out their lineup and have stock piled the cupboards with draft picks over the next two years and have signed all of their core players to contract extensions and should be a league power house again this season and for the next few seasons.  When asked if he would be making more moves in the off-season, GM Arcesi said that, well, nothing is ever set in stone and I'm always looking to improve my roster, but rest assured, there won't be many roster players moving.

Let's Go Bruins!!!
