Edmonton Oilers acquire Rick Nash

After hours of back and forth chatter between General Managers Lozinski and Tremblay, a deal was agreed upon that sent superstar Rick Nash to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Kyle Okposo, Jake Gardiner and Eric Fehr.

" This was a tough decision for us" Stated Lozinski

" At the end of the day, we felt that we owed it to Evgeni Malkin and Jiri Tlusty to find them a right winger that could help put the puck in the back of the net. Our top line is going to score a ton of goals this year."

When asked about sending away the trio of players, Lozinski was blunt and straight to the point

" Jake Gardiner is going to be one hell of a hockey player in this league for a very long time, but he was the #8 guy on our depth chart this year and is making 2.6 million a year. I cant justify paying that kind of money for a player to sit on the bench all year. In regards to Eric Fehr, he was seeking a substantial amount of money for a contract extension and had already turned down our first 2 offers. This was a trade that really made sence for our hockey club. Hopefully Kyle Okposo can find his scoring touch again this year and be an effective player for calgary. At the end of the day, this is a trade that made sence for both teams."

GM Lozinski has also made it clear that he is still seeking a second line centre.

" We are actively looking for our 2nd line centre, As it stands right now, Brian Boyle is anchoring our second line, but we all know Brian is best suited in a 3rd line checking role."

Rumor has it that young up and comers Roman Horak, hulking young defender Anrej Sustr and promising forward Gustav Nyquist are all on the block for a centre.
