RFA Press Conference

GM Arcesi of the Boston Bruins held a press conference early this morning about the status of 3 of his 4 restricted free agents.  Arcesi has stated that although he likes all three players (Sam Gagner, Roman Josi and Nick Foligno), that he will not be matching any of the offers and will gladly take the high compensation that he will be getting for all three of those players.

Arcesi also went on to state that if he were to consider trading Foligno before free agency opened up, he would not have gotten a 2^nd round pick, and that the most he would have gotten was a 3^rd round pick.  He stated that Josi was on the trade block all last season and he couldn’t even get a 2^nd round pick for him and even if he were to trade him today, he may only have gotten a 1st round pick.  Gagner, well, I had a trade lined up to move him and a 3^rd round pick for two first round picks…but getting a 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd for him, well, that makes it pretty well even out the trade I had in place and get to keep my 3^rd round pick.

I’d like to thank the Philadelphia GM for the generous offers that he made and will gladly accept 2 first round picks, 3 second round picks and 2 third round picks.  Those picks will gladly help stockpile our prospect pool which is down to two prospects and can also help us to fill any roster spots that may be needed throughout the season.

When asked about the last RFA that he has remaining on his roster for this season (Mathieu Perrault); Arcesi stated that much like the other three before him, he has every intention to match the offer…unless it is something that can’t be refused like the last 3 offers.  Stay tuned!!!
