Hartnell Locked Up

News broke out of Dallas this morning that the Stars have come to terms on a two year contract extension with Veteran forward Scott Hartnell, totalling $7, 992, 000.

"Signing Scott was a priority for us" stated GM Kevin Rockett, as sat down and talked about the signing, as well as other team matters on AM1310 The Ticket. "We feel he is a veteran leader that provides our team with a big body presence in our top six, with a little scoring touch.

Negotiations are currently ongoing with forward Chris Kelly, and goaltenders Al Montoya & Jeff Zatkoff. When asked about Nathan Gerbe and Fedor Tyutin, Rockett seemed visibly upset.

"I'm really at a loss for words on this situation. The status of Nathan as it stands right now, is totally up in the air. We don't even know if he is willing to keep negotiating with management. We feel he has top six potential, and we would really like to see him develop into that role with the Stars."

Frustration turned to anger when confronted about 30yr old defenceman Fedor Tyutin.

"We really don't quite understand why Fedor feels entitled to the dollar amount he is asking for. He had a top 4 role last season, and would have started next season on our top pairing...but not at that price. From everything we understand, Tyutin and his agent refuse to negotiate further, and are currently compiling a list of teams of teams he would be willing to negotiate with. We will actively pursue a trade once this list is made public."

Details on the contract offers from both sides, have not been disclosed. We will have more on this story as it develops.
