New addition in Tampa....Tim Thomas!!!

2012-12-03

St-Pete's Gazette

Tampa Bay made another move tonight adding to the roster Stanley Cup Winner Tim Thomas.  GM St-Pierre wasn't happy in the last few days, and was thinking trading goalie Brian Elliott.  But the wind turned really quick and shipping Evgeni Nabokov to the Vancouver Canucks.

" Nabokov was impressing in the net with his stats 6-2-1, but when you look at the future, he wans't worth 3 more years on our roster."

If the lockout goes longer than predicted, and no CBA being signed, sources told GM St-Pierre that Evgeni Nabokov was already meeting with the KHL for a 2-3 years contract.

" We brought Thomas to Tampa as a back up to Elliott, or even to take the #1 spot in the net.  If he want to retire after this season, we are still in good shape with our junior goalie rosters...and saving 5 millions in cap" GM St-Pierre told the media.

" If you look at the whole deal....I concluded this....an old russian goalie who could have 3-4 years in his country Russia this year vs a Stanley Cup winner goalie with a retirement target on his back.  This deal could go both ways, we just have to wait on the new CBA agreement....if they are gonna be one!!!"

GM St-Pierre took no time to spread the news to other teams.....The White house is in the Net vs Philly tomorrow Night.
