Leafs Top 10 Prospects

10) Scott Mayfield Denver (WCHA) Shutdown D-men will need some time with the Marlies after he finishes school.  He will not be rushed by the Leafs.  He should fill a 4th or 5 h d-men role for the Leafs in the future.

9) Phil Di Guiseppe Michigan (CCHA) 2nd round pick could play for Team Canada at the world juniors this year.  Was one of the last cuts last year and scored 11 goals as a freshman at Michigan.

8)  Kevin Poulin Marlies (AHL) Lunquist future back up, will be the starter for the Marlies this year.  Could be a starter down the road for the Leafs and will have lots of time to develop in Toronto.

7) Matt Frattin Marlies (AHL) Could see some time with the big club.  Will be a third line forward for the Leafs as soon as next year.  Should be the first call up in Toronto.

6)  Tyler Biggs Oshawa (OHL) Big power forward can play with an edge.  Could turn out to be a very dangerous player if he can learn to score.  Could play for the USA at this year WJHC.

5) Hampus Lindholm Marlies/Rogue (AHL/Sweden) Swift skating first round pick can play a two way game.  Has been compared to Erik Karlsson.  The Leafs were very surprised he was still around when they drafted him.  Should have a very bright future.

4) Gustav Nyquist Marlies (AHL)  Could challenge for a top six forward position in the very near future.  May be Leafs most underrated prospect.  Should be one of the Marlies top players and could see some time with the Leafs.

3) Jonas Brodin Marlies/Farjestad (AHL/Sweden)  Huge part of Sweden's gold medal winning team at last year WJHC. Will be one of the Leafs top d-men for years to come. 

2) Filip Forsberg Marlies/Leksand (AHL/Sweden)  Complete player could be the Leafs top prospect.  Can play left wing and center.  Will take a few years in Sweden to develop.

1) Mikael Grunland Leafs/Marlies (NHL/AHL)  Finnish superstar will be a Calder candidate.  One of the top ten players not in the NHL.  Ready to play in the big leagues.
