1st annual Team Review, Western Confrence Edition

2012-10-18

This is not meant to offend anyone, it is just my opinion for the year. The western confrence will be rediculously tough to make the playoffs. Also please take into account that teams will make trades that will change the dynamics of the confrence. I will make my eatern confrence predictions tomorrow.  Enjoy!

Anaheim Ducks

GM Ledgers team is quick out of the gate, going 3-0. Anaehim boasts an older, experienced team that has a decent blue line. Anaheims sub par forwards wil be tested this season. Anaheims biggest weakness is on both wings. But with up and comer Tukka Rask mending the pipes, Anaheim has a team that should be able to compete for the next few years. Anaheim will have to stock the cupboards with some decent prospects or it will face a major rebuild in about 4-5 years.

Calgary Flames

GM Tremblay made some interesting moves since taking over the team. But with the likes of PK Subban, Evander Kane, Logan Couture. and Jaroslav Halak, this is going to be a very interesting team to keep tabs on over the next couple years. With the addition of some support players, Calgary could challenge for the cup in a couple years.

Chicago Blackhawks

GM Despres team has work to be done,. Beyond Staal, Fowler and VanRemsdyke, there is not much depth. Without some major moves or a full out rebuild, this team will be a 10-13 placed team for the next couple years.

Colorado Avalanche

One of the powerhouses of the west is out to a subpar start, going 1-1-1. But with one of the best defense in the league, and Steven Stamkos leading the charge, Colorado is a team that will bounce back and challenge for 1st in the confrence. Mikka Kipersoff is not a bad guy to have in net either.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus Boasts a veryexperienmced, but old team. This is another team that will be able to make cup run for the next few years, but without adding some youth, Columbus will run into trouble.

Dallas Stars

GM Rockett has changed his team drastically since taking over. With Pekka Rinne in between the pipes, he may be able to squeek into a playoff spot. But that depends on his older vets living up to expectations. With Mark Psysk and Tevo Teravainen on the shelf, Dallas also has a bright looking future.

Detroit Red Wings

The powerhouse of the confrence..... GM Cyr sacrificed last season to stock up, and boy did it pay off. With no glaring weakness's, and one of the best prospect banks int he league, Detroit is a team that will be competing for a VERY LONG time. A cup favourite. Also, take a look at the draft picks that detroit owns for this upcoming, stellar draft....... Scary

Edmonton Oilers

I wont comment for obvious reasons

La Kings

Deciding to trade away Stamkos opened up the door for a full blown rebuild for this team. The Team still has to many old players that need to be traded to help speed up the rebuild. With the right moves, LA could challenge sooner than people think

Minessota Wild

Another team facing a rebuild. But who better to build your team around than Shea Weber? The Wild have many players that they can ship out for quality prospects and picks.

Nashville Predators

The always entertaining GM Cia has alot of work to do. Other than Kesler, this team has alot of older players that are facing the downward spiral of their careers. After trading away most of his picks for next year, it will be interesting to see what the Nashville Predators plan to do. Stay the course, or trade for the future.

Phoenix Coyotes

GM Brodsky owns one of the other powerhouses in the confrence. A major injury to Crosbyw ill test this teams depth, but that shouldnt be an issue. Phoenix is another team that will need to start stocking up for the future though.

San Jose Sharks

Yakupov,Landeskog, Hodgson, Burns, Grigorenko, Beaulie, and Subban. The future is bright,. If San Jose finishes poorly this season, they will NOT be selecting high in a very promising draft, as their first rounder was traded away. San Jose needs a few years before the playoffs, but will be a threat when they do make it.

St.Louis Blues

Another rebuilding team led by Taylor Hall. St Louis has some decent prospects but is definitley going tot ake some time before they compete.

Vancouver Canucks

A series of questionable trades has dismantled this one time powerhouse. Elias, Thomas, Pronger and Jagr are spearheading this team. I suspect a rebuild is coming.......
